Reps step down motion to include Anambra, Enugu and Kogi States to Oil Producing States

After a protracted controversy in the House of Representatives yesterday, Speaker of the house, Yakubu Dogara, has stepped down the motion raised by some members of the House pending the resolution of some of the issues.
Tony Nwoye, representing Anambra, Patrick Asadu, Enugu and Emmanuel Egwu, Kogi, in a joint motion, pressed that the House should urge the Federal Government to declare Kogi, Anambra and Enugu States as oil producing states since exploration/mining activities have begun in the Basin since 2012.
As some members stood against the motion, explaining that the commercial viability of the oil and gas deposits in Anambra Basin had not been determined, the house resolved to set up an ad-hoc committee to determine the commercial viability of the oil and gas deposits in the Anambra Basin.
