Eguavoen, Shorunmu unveiled as Sunshine coaches

Former Super Eagles Coaches, Austin Eguavoen and Ike Shorunmu, were on Tuesday unveiled as the handlers of Sunshine Stars Football Club of Akure.
Eguavoen was hired as the Technical Adviser while Shorunmu was employed as the goalkeeper trainer.
The unveiling was held at the Ondo State Football Agency complex, Oda road, Akure, the state capital in the presence of journalists, ODSFA management and other stakeholders.
Speaking at the event, the chairman of the Interim Management Committee of the club, Mr. Gbenga Elegbeleye, said the committee was mandated by the state governor, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu to ensure that the Akure-based team was not relegated.
A former Director-General of the Nigeria Sports Commission said the choice of the two former internationals was based on their wealth of experience urging them to do whatever do could be done to save the club from relegation.
The Akure darling team is currently in the relegation zone of the Nigeria Professional Football League with 18 points.
Elegbeleye said, ” The assignment is to save Sunshine Stars from relegation, I will implore our fans to be patient with the new coaches, I believe they will do the work for us there is no sentiment in the appointment of the coaches.
” There is no sentiment or politics in football, the governor has instructed us to look for good players to save Sunshine Stars from relaxation. ”
While responding the new coach, Eguavoen promised to do his best to move up the club from its present position in the league.
“We have been saddled with huge responsibility, this is a huge task, I walked out on clubs that don’t do what they are supposed to do but I won’t walk out our relationship with Sunshine Stars.
” It is necessary to bring new players to fortify the team, we want support from our people and we will do our best for Sunshine,” the coach assured.
