The Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, said xenophobic attacks in South Africa are driven by hate speech and misinformation.
Mrs. Dabiri-Erewa who stated this in an interview yesterday claimed that South African politicians fuel xenophobic attacks by telling their citizens that foreigners, including Nigerians, are dating their women and taking their jobs.
While admitting that foreigners who commit crime in South Africa could be dealt with she said but this should not be done by discriminating against Nigerians or any other race or country.
